Encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis with partial small bowel obstruction

CT show conglomerate of multiple dilated small bowel loops seen in the mid abdominal cavity, surrounded by sac-like structure. It is a characteristic feature of sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis (SEP) or abdominal cocoon. Primary SEP is idiopathy while secondary SEP is associated with several causes and more common. The most common cause of secondary SEP is peritoneal dialysis. This patient was on peritoneal dialysis prior to kidney transplantation.
