CT shows marked edematous wall thickening in the cecum and ascending colon with pericolic infiltration and fluid collections. Mesenteric vessels ara patent. Marked wall edema in the cecum and colon in the patient with neutropenia and abdominal pain would suggest neutropenic enterocolitis.
Neutropenic enterocolitis (NEC) was originally thought to involve only the ileocecal area due to poor vascularity
of that region; however, it has subsequently been shown to also involve most other regions of the colon. RTP Live
